All-Star Teams are made up of the top players in our leagues between the ages of 8-12. It is an honor to be chosen, however, also involves a commitment by each player and his/her family. A player’s age determination for All-Stars is the same as the league age of the players during the regular season. Our league will roster a minimum of 12 players for each team this season as follows:
BASEBALL: There will be three teams (numbers permitting) for players ages 8/9/10, 9/10/11 and 10/11/12.
SOFTBALL: There will be two teams (numbers permitting) for players ages 8/9/10 and 10/11/12.
Notification of Selection: Players selected to one of the All-Star teams will be announced via the league website (www.SBYBS.com) at midnight of the evening of the final game/event of the season, but no sooner than June 1. Practices may begin as early as the day the team is announced and could continue on a daily basis up to the start of the district tournament (with a required 1 day off after 6 practices or games days in a row). For the Baseball 9/10/11 team, players will have at least 2 days off per week. Practice times will be determined by the team’s coaching staff.
Tournament Information: The league will provide additional information as the season gets closer as to the start of tournaments and the length of commitment necessary. The dates are generally as follows:
BASEBALL: the 8/9/10 and 10/11/12 baseball District tournaments begin approximately 2-3 weeks after teams are announced. The 9/10/11 baseball District tournament usually starts 1-2 weeks later. The State tournaments usually begin in mid-July and end in early August. State tournaments only apply to teams that win the District tournaments and can take place anywhere in Vermont.
SOFTBALL: The 10/11/12 District tournament usually begins around June 20; the State tournament around July 10. The 8/9/10 District and State tournaments usually begins 1 week after the 10/11/12 tournaments.
REGIONALS: There is no additional play beyond the State tournament for the Baseball 9/10/11 team. However, if the 8/9/10 or 10/11/12 baseball or softball teams win the State tournament, they will move on to the Eastern Region Tournament played outside of Vermont. Eastern Region play usually occurs around the 3rd or 4th week in July for softball and the 1st or 2nd week of August for baseball.
